AGCO to pilot Agility Robotics' humanoid Digit at Kansas farm machinery plant in 2027

AGCO plans to test Agility Robotics' humanoid robot Digit at its Hesston, Kansas manufacturing facility in 2027, starting with sorting/stacking parts and placing totes in storage.
Digit 5, unveiled in September, carries a 22.7 kg payload with a 2.2 m reach, interchangeable grippers, and a new safety architecture for working near people. Its battery runs 90 minutes and recharges in nine (a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio), potentially supporting 20+ productive hours per day. Agility's Arc platform handles fleet deployment and connects to existing factory and warehouse systems without major infrastructure changes.
AGCO serves farmers via 2,800 dealers across 140 countries, so a successful pilot could open the door to broader humanoid deployment — though AGCO hasn't disclosed robot counts, throughput/cost targets, or which Digit version will be used.
