User Claims ChatGPT Conversations Were Used for Ad Targeting Within 24 Hours
parkersb · reddit · 2026-10-24
A Reddit user reports being targeted by ads from an extremely niche payment company they had only ever encountered in ChatGPT responses — never searched, spoken, or mentioned anywhere else.
The user says they checked all browser and search histories, lives alone, and told no one, concluding the only plausible explanation is that chat data was packaged and sold to advertisers within 24 hours. This remains an unverified individual claim, but if true it would seriously violate OpenAI's privacy promises.
