Hacker roots his Samsung TV, finds on-device AI spying on dog and baby — then OpenAI bans him

Hacker @log4j reverse engineered his 2025 Samsung TV: the AES-encrypted firmware required UART/JTAG tricks to get a root shell, revealing on-device AI that listens for dog barks and baby cries, watches what you watch, and even borrows a networked soundbar's mic when the TV lacks one — triggered by eerily targeted ads. He then reports OpenAI banned his account over the reverse engineering. His thread showing the Tizen root shell has 630K+ views.
