Transformer co-author bets on per-user alignment; PyTorch CTO says operators bear liability
schwentker · x · 2026-10-24
Transformer co-author Illia Polosukhin pushed back on aligning humanity: "we as individuals aren't aligned." His bet is aligning to individual users and building a market where specialized agents hire each other—NEAR AI's Agent Market handles matching and settlement. PyTorch CTO Matt White added that with open models, liability rests on whoever operates the agents, not developers or trainers. The post also links the Open Intelligence Foundation, which gives independent AI builders no-strings grants up to $10,000 (GPU/compute funding), backing projects like MLX contributor Prince Canuma and OpenMed founder Maziyar Panahi.
