arXiv moderation backlog: paper stuck on hold for 1.5 weeks
iScienceLuvr · x · 2026-10-24
ML researcher iScienceLuvr complains about arXiv's moderation pipeline: one of their papers has been "on hold" for about 1.5 weeks with no way to make it public. At that point, he says, "we might as well just upload it on our own website instead of arXiv."
The on-hold status means a paper enters manual moderation, and with submission volumes surging, long holds have become an increasingly common gripe in the research community, raising questions about the preprint platform's efficiency.
