NVIDIA and the University of Washington's Institute for Protein Design have jointly released RFD4-Proteina, a protein-design model announced with playful official messaging.
Researchers in the field see it as opening doors for designed biology — one proposal: attempt a true de novo luciferase with novel chemistry, designed around a cheap, abundant, recyclable substrate, small size, and easy splitting.
