Leaked Kimi campaign docs told influencers to hide paid promotions and push talking points
likeastar20 · reddit · 2026-10-24
A creator leaked the influencer campaign docs he received from Moonshot's Kimi AI after the Kimi K3.1 Pro launch, then quit the deal, saying he refused to be part of a China-vs-US narrative battle.
The docs prescribe talking points for creators, including:
- "K3.1 is open-source Opus 5.5 but 5x cheaper" ($0.25 vs $1.30)
- "China just made Opus 5.5 free for everyone", "open source is 1 month behind frontier", "US cut chips but Kimi still trained SOTA"
The controversy: influencers were told to push these narratives with no requirement to disclose the paid promotion, which the creator says conflicts with honest reviewing. The leak sparked debate over Chinese model vendors' overseas KOL marketing tactics.
