Etsy cracks down on AI slop listings, bans bot-generated items with no human input
lilyraynyc · x · 2026-10-24
Etsy updated its AI use policy with stricter rules to curb AI slop on the platform, citing buyer confusion — "many active buyers say they can't tell which items involve AI-generated content" — and seller concerns about appearing alongside misleading AI items.
Key changes: bot-generated listings with no human involvement are banned, will be removed, and repeat offenses can get an entire shop delisted. Etsy also published AI usage recommendations and FAQs. SEO commentator Glen Gabe covered the news, and Lily Ray quipped "Great, now do X and LinkedIn."
