Baseten launches Environment Network, pairing vetted RL environment firms with post-training customers
baseten · x · 2026-10-24
Baseten announced the Baseten Environment Network, a vetted group of RL environment companies that will build custom reinforcement learning environments for customers' post-training needs around their own tasks, data, and feedback.
Key points:
- High-quality environments are critical to post-training; Baseten has built a methodology across engagements with Harvey, Lovable, Gamma and others, but the work is manually intensive — requiring researchers, taste, and extensive time inspecting data
- Network partners (shown in the launch graphic: Snorkel, Datacurve, Taste, microl, Eigent, fleet, Arcanum, Very Large Research, Ctrl+G, and more) work directly with customers to create environments
- Baseten continues to handle model training and production deployment; engagements go through scoping, discovery, and calibration
The move reflects a specialization trend in the RL post-training supply chain: environment creation itself is becoming a standalone business.
