Xaira details X-Automate: X-Scientist, X-Bot and mobile robots link protein design to testing
BoWang87 · x · 2026-10-23
In a follow-up, Bo Wang explains the logic behind X-Automate: as AI gets better at designing proteins, the bottleneck moves into the lab — thousands of designs still need to be made, characterized, and tested, and many instruments still need a hand to open drawers or start runs.
The system splits work three ways:
- X-Scientist interprets camera views, screens, and instrument software to coordinate workflows
- X-Bot handles physical interactions
- Mobile robots shuttle samples between stations
Together they connect protein production to experimental characterization in an automated loop.
