20+ ICLR 2027 submissions self-confess fabricated placeholder results

CMU's Nihar B. Shah found 20+ ICLR 2027 submissions and multiple arXiv papers whose captions admit results are placeholders: "all values are simulated placeholder results and should be replaced by actual experimental outputs before submission." He also catalogs a rise of TBDs and blank tables in submitted papers. He cautions the statements alone don't prove experiments weren't run or that AI/intent was involved, but the scale exposes serious peer-review vulnerabilities.
