Coding agents declaring false 'Done' — a Reddit experiment adds an independent controller to verify completion
aldi949 · reddit · 2026-10-23
A Reddit poster argues the worst part of coding agents isn't failure but confidently declaring "Done" while the requirement stays broken. He built a prototype where a separate controller inspects results, rejects false completions, and forces retries (a scripted controlled demo, not a live Codex run). The open problem he flags: even when all declared checks pass, how do you know they cover what the user actually wanted?
