Itamar Friedman: SDLC agents are a step toward the software factory — own the system
blaizedsouza · x · 2026-10-23
Itamar Friedman argues that agents across the SDLC are a step toward a "software factory," but the harder work is engineering the system around them.
His take on the path to "bounded L4 software engineering": teams shouldn't wait for a fully autonomous universal agent, but should BUILD and OWN the system — composing agents, processes, and toolchains within well-defined boundaries to get controllable, highly automated development.
