Med student builds RAG book library with Cognee for cross-book concept retrieval
shrike293103 · reddit · 2026-10-23
A medical student shares a build log for a personal RAG system that indexes an entire textbook library so LLMs can retrieve and explain concepts across books.
They ruled out Obsidian notes (static, not query-adaptive) and uploading books to chatbots (token limits, cost). Their current stack is Cognee — a graph-based RAG memory layer paired with kiro-cli — but single-book ingestion still freezes their limited hardware; they're evaluating Mem0 and Letta as alternatives.
