Intel CTO confirms partnership with Musk on Terafab: 'We either build it or we don't have the chips'

Intel CTO Pushkar Ranade confirmed on Dwarkesh's podcast that Intel is partnering with Elon Musk on the Terafab chip plant. Musk's reasoning: surging demand for compute and memory means his own businesses will need enormous silicon supply, so he'd rather build it himself — "we either build the Terafab or we don't have the chips." Ranade noted fab construction is far more intricate than car manufacturing, and Intel believes it can help accelerate the effort beyond just supplying tools.
