Gergely Orosz: Secure software will get a lot pricier in the AI era, creating a career gold rush
HanchungLee · x · 2026-10-23
Gergely Orosz predicts secure software will become significantly more expensive for two reasons:
- Security teams will carry high AI bills (the smaller part)
- Hiring "AI-native" software professionals will cost far more than today's software engineers (the larger part)
He notes many longtime security professionals are skeptical of AI, so anyone who cares about security and uses AI optimistically faces a huge career and earning opportunity — comparable to getting into iOS development in 2008.
Quoting him, Hanchung Lee adds that most security and IT teams manage rather than build technology, and don't deeply understand it.
