Seth Lazar argues AI power asymmetry is self-correcting, not locked in
sethlazar · x · 2026-10-23
Philosopher Seth Lazar pushes back on the claim that historical analogies fail for AI: in asymmetric conflict, firepower advantage tends to be inversely matched by a lower tolerance for losses, and elites' willingness to bear costs for absolute control diminishes over time. He adds that comparable technological asymmetries have existed in the past and present — "if one elite has 100 T-1000s, there's bound to be another who's got 10 who disagrees."
