Government website AI chatbot earnestly answers question about cities with negative population
conitzer · x · 2026-10-23
AI researcher Vincent Conitzer shared a fail from the America.gov chatbot: asked how many US cities have more than -1,000,000,000 people, the bot earnestly replied that zero cities exceed negative one billion, since population counts cannot be negative — swallowing the absurd premise instead of pushing back. Conitzer quipped that America needs to work on its math skills, in his Substack series of funny AI fails.
