Veteran designers embrace AI most: a strange generation gap in design
soleio · x · 2026-10-23
Designer benbarry echoes an observation from a month of calls with designers: the people most excited about AI are often 12+ year veterans, not juniors. Designers with 5 years of experience entered a stable world of big teams, enterprise jobs and design systems—if you define design as component production, AI is a pure threat. Earlier-career designers who remember a world before that framework find today the most exciting time in their careers: what used to be slow or impossible is now nearly effortless if you can articulate your ideas.
