Security researcher defends Anthropic: Jason Clinton warned of AI hacking influx 2+ years ago
JeffLadish · x · 2026-10-23
Security researcher Jeff Ladish published a lengthy clarification supporting Anthropic's security teams, crediting Jason Clinton with warning about the massive influx of AI hacking capabilities 2+ years ago—far earlier than almost anyone—and actively working to prepare other companies and the public. Ladish acknowledges legitimate hard calls at Anthropic, such as how wide to roll out initial access and how much distillation drives open-weight hacking capabilities, but argues the team has earnestly tried to prepare the world for today's proliferation of cheap hacking capabilities.
