SpecForge: an open-source spec compiler that makes agent rules actually enforceable
JealousFix4955 · reddit · 2026-10-23
A developer open-sourced SpecForge (Rust, pre-release) to fix coding agents ignoring rules written in Markdown specs. Specs become small structured files—invariants, behaviors, events with guarantees, risk levels, and verification tests—and a deterministic, LLM-free specforge check catches unresolved references and orphaned events. Workflow: agent drafts the spec, check validates it, the agent queries the checked spec over MCP, and humans compare promises vs what tests actually prove. Honest limitation: 'proven' currently just means a named test passed, not that it truly checks the behavior.
