1-gram wireless mesoscope images cortex-wide activity in freely moving mice

Jiamin Wu and colleagues published a Nature paper on a 1-gram wireless mesoscope that uses one-photon (not two-photon) imaging to capture cortex-wide activity at single-cell resolution in naturally behaving mice.
Because the device is wearable and wireless, multiple mice can be recorded simultaneously in a near-natural habitat, opening new possibilities for studying social behavior and other naturalistic paradigms. The work drew praise from neuroscience labs (Kording, Histed) for cramming a one-photon mesoscope into one gram.
