Modular open-sources MAX to build 'LLVM for AI' and end single-vendor lock-in

Chris Lattner relayed Modular's announcement: MAX source is now available with Modular 26.7, arguing AI compute shouldn't be locked to one hardware vendor.
The companion Modular alliance program is pitched as 'LLVM, but for AI': today every chip vendor must build its own full, incompatible AI software stack. Modular wants a unified layer — the Mojo language plus MAX framework — with a conformance-testing ecosystem so all kinds of compute share one interoperable stack. Modular recently joined Qualcomm, which has opened the Modular stack to catalyze broader innovation.
