Modular open-sources MAX framework to free AI compute from single-vendor lock-in
clattner_llvm · x · 2026-10-23
Modular, the company founded by Chris Lattner, has made its MAX framework source available with the Modular 26.7 release. The stated goal: AI shouldn't be locked to one hardware vendor or chip, and open-sourcing MAX is meant to democratize AI compute. It gives developers an open alternative for running inference and training stacks across different GPUs and accelerators.
