Nvidia launches OpenShell Reference Architecture to contain AI agents at industrial scale
nordicinst · x · 2026-10-23
Nvidia announced the OpenShell Reference Architecture, a full-stack, hardware- and software-rooted infrastructure platform designed to safely build, contain, observe, and enforce autonomous AI agents at industrial scale.
- Motivated by growing reports of AI agents going rogue, the architecture combines computing hardware, software, and security tooling to keep agents within defined boundaries.
- The stack pairs Nvidia's Vera Rubin computing infrastructure and Vera CPUs with BlueField DPUs running the Sentry security framework.
- OpenShell controls what agents can access, while BlueField and Sentry enforce those policies.
