LiDAR scan plus AI verification loop: building dimensionally accurate 3D room models with an LLM
lmoroney · x · 2026-10-23
- Wes Bos shared a workflow: an iPhone LiDAR app scans a real room while capturing hundreds of high-quality photos, then a custom workflow and skill has an LLM model each object.
- The key is a checking loop — every generated model is compared against the photo taken from that exact spot and angle — yielding a dimensionally accurate, high-quality room model, walked through in his new video.
- Laurence Moroney notes this reference-checking mirrors how good set builders and 3D artists work; for AI films or game scenes, a scanned familiar space is a great starting set. He advises measuring a few objects against the model before building on it.
