Anthropic, OpenAI and Musk have now pledged over 3x the Gates Foundation's endowment, each via a different vehicle: a company fund, a nonprofit foundation, and direct share giveaways. About 20% of Anthropic's shares are set aside for public purposes, on par with OpenAI's foundation, and each co-founder has pledged 80% of their equity. Musk's plan to give 1 SpaceX share to 72M American children could turn a generation into shareholders — simple to understand and track.
