The agentskills/agentskills repo — specification and documentation for Agent Skills — has reached 26.4k stars and 1.9k forks on GitHub. It defines a lightweight, open format for extending AI agents with specialized knowledge: a skill is a folder with a SKILL.md containing metadata (name, description) plus task instructions, optionally bundling scripts, references and templates. Ships with a skills-ref tool and docs under Apache-2.0.
