LokalBot ships Linux/Windows alpha: open-source local transcription, dictation and autocomplete
stevyhacker · reddit · 2026-10-23
The developer ported LokalBot from macOS to Linux and Windows (alpha) in a three-day sprint using an agent swarm, rebuilt in Rust + GPUI. It offers meeting transcription, notes with local models, dictation, in-app autocomplete, and agent access to work context — free, open source, local by default, with support for custom inference infrastructure.
- Default stack: Qwen3-ASR for transcription, Qwen3.5 4B for notes/chat, LFM2.5 1.2B / Gemma 4 E2B for autocomplete, EmbeddingGemma 2 for semantic search, pyannote + TitaNet for speaker separation
- Known issues: autocomplete patchy on Linux, not working on Wayland yet; some Mac features missing
- All models swappable in settings; author is seeking feedback on real-world hardware
