Forerunner explains its Alta bet: 20M avatars, 700M outfits, and 'everyday magic'
sh_reya · x · 2026-10-23
Forerunner managing partner Eurie Kim detailed why the firm led Alta's Series A: she has personally used the app daily for 150 days. Alta creates remarkably accurate avatars from two selfies, renders outfits in seconds, and ingests wardrobes from photos, links, video scans, or receipts, powered by a dozen-plus specialized models trained with real stylists.
Key numbers: users have generated 20M+ avatars and 700M outfits, collectively spending 56,000 hours (six years of human time) just watching the rendering animation — now one avatar per second. Kim argues the team's bigger achievement than making the tech work was making it fun.
