Should you disclose AI-assisted writing? One lab's sensible default
lmoroney · x · 2026-10-23
Economist Paul Novosad shared his lab's policy: use AI when it's the best way to communicate, and disclose that to the recipient. Developer advocate Laurence Moroney endorses it as a sensible default for teams and classrooms — a one-line note like "drafted with AI, checked and edited by me" tells readers how the piece was made and who stands behind the facts, while keeping the author honest about actually reading it. He suggests adding such a disclosure to your next AI-assisted piece and noticing whether it makes you edit more carefully.
