OpenAI's Decisions API goes GA: 400 questions per request, voice and JSON support
OpenAIDevs · x · 2026-10-23
OpenAI announced the Decisions API is now generally available. The API lets apps and agents classify text and images, evaluate inputs, and decide what happens next without generating a full model response — faster and cheaper.
New capabilities added since beta:
- Native GPT-Live integration so voice apps can react as people speak
- Prompt caching to cut costs when reusing context
- Native JSON inputs for passing structured app data directly
- Images in individual question instructions to compare multiple images against a shared reference
- Up to 400 questions per request, doubling decisions per call
