Johns Hopkins and MIT released OpenTac, an open-source ecosystem tackling why most robotic hands are numb: flat tactile sensors can't wrap curved geometry. OpenTac automatically designs custom 3D tactile skins for arbitrary robot surfaces, delivering normal and shear force feedback at up to 1286 fps.
