Carmack: robotics' 50Hz joint targets vs 60Hz video data is a skew worth fixing
ID_AA_Carmack · x · 2026-10-23
John Carmack points out a subtle mismatch in robotics: most robots use 50Hz joint targets while video data is collected at 60Hz. It's not a top-ten problem today, but eventually should be. His take: adjusting the robot's fine control rate is easier than re-timing all video data, and systems should add a genlock-like trigger to lock phases.
