Letta launches FrontierMemory: benchmarking agent memory by downstream task gains, not recall
_AustinCalvert_ · x · 2026-10-23
Letta's FrontierMemory benchmark evaluates agent memory through downstream task performance instead of recall QA, which agentic search has already saturated. The accompanying thread argues that today's memory benchmarks can't measure whether agents actually learn from experience, and that coding/knowledge-work benchmarks use isolated tasks with fully pre-specified context — unrealistic compared to sequences of related tasks where past work should inform performance.
