On October 23, Sanxingdui hits Chinese cinemas as the country's first fully AI-generated feature film to receive a theatrical release permit. The team spent 2+ years in development, generated over 1.2 million preliminary images, and ran 100+ full-film iterations before the final cut. They consulted Sanxingdui experts for historical accuracy, and reviewers checked the film frame by frame — shots fine on phones often fell apart on cinema screens. Producer Qu Jixiaojiang: "Audiences still expect a story worth watching." Box office will show whether audiences care.
