Indie dev adds an MCP server to his iPhone lifting app so Claude rewrites routines

An indie developer added an MCP server to Stanza Lift, his iPhone workout log app, letting Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client read training data and rewrite routines that sync back to the phone.
Seven tools: training overview (weekly volume, per-muscle sets, PRs), per-exercise insights (4/12-week estimated max trends, reps in reserve), exercise search, and routine CRUD.
Design decisions worth copying:
- Data lives on the phone; server copy is opt-in and deleted when disabled
- Auth via a 10-minute pairing code on the assistant's OAuth page — no accounts
- Assistants read everything but can only write routines, never history
- deleteroutine requires user confirmation; read tools return conclusions, not raw rows, to save context
Free in public beta on TestFlight. A solid reference for consumer-app MCP consent and write-permission design.
