eMudhra to Exit Global SSL/TLS Certificate Business After Recent CA Incident
jedisct1 · x · 2026-10-23
Indian digital trust firm eMudhra announced it will voluntarily withdraw from the global SSL/TLS certificate business. Following a recent certificate incident, the company says it revoked affected CAs within 14 hours with no end-entity certs issued and no breach. SSL/TLS contributes only 1% of global revenue, and rising data sovereignty/compliance costs plus free certs from large players have eroded ROI. The board concluded that outsized social-media scrutiny made exiting the right call.
