WHOOP stores months of precise location data just for weather-based AI coaching
banteg · x · 2026-10-23
Developer banteg found that paid fitness app WHOOP keeps months of precise location records. A support doc shows the AI Coach uses location plus weather and physiological data (Recovery, Sleep, Strain) for weather-aware nudges — hydration in heat, indoor workouts on cold days. He argues weather features don't justify retaining precise location history and recommends turning the permission off: "expected better from a paid app."
