Ai2 releases OlmoEarth v1.3 with free precomputed embeddings for the entire planet at 10m resolution
allen_ai · x · 2026-10-22
The Allen Institute for AI (Ai2) released OlmoEarth v1.3, a state-of-the-art satellite embedding model, along with precomputed annual embeddings for the entire planet.
- The model reads a year of Sentinel-1 radar and Sentinel-2/Landsat multispectral time series and outputs one 128-dimensional vector per 10m pixel on Earth (first 64 dims work standalone).
- Global embeddings (10m, 64- and 128-dim) are openly available on Source Cooperative, no sign-in required.
- A new browser-based Embeddings Explorer lets anyone build maps without GPUs: crop mapping, land-cover classification, or change analysis becomes training a small classifier on top of the embeddings.
- The release also includes the v1.3 Base model, a tech report, PLANTEUR (a new crop-type benchmark for the tropics), and an interactive story — all open.
