Allen AI reports that OlmoEarth v1.3's 128-dim satellite embeddings lead Google's AlphaEarth Foundations and Tessera v2 on 10 of 11 evals; the 64-dim version, at half the storage, leads on 7 (radar chart shows kNN-5 accuracy across Africa crop mask, Canada crops, oil palm, US trees, GLanCE and more).
On-the-ground barrier is low: a few dozen labeled points suffice for a usable first map, e.g. smallholder crops in Kenya or fire damage in Indonesia.
