SARAL AI turns Indian public research into reels and posters for farmers
ponguru · x · 2026-10-22
The Times of India profiles SARAL AI (launched Oct 2, 2024), an AI platform built by an IIIT Hyderabad team and supported by India's ANRF, aimed at unlocking publicly funded research locked behind academic publications.
Its three pillars: democratizing research, knowledge diffusion, and social-media distribution. It freely converts papers into presentations, audio summaries, short videos, reels, posters and podcasts in multiple Indian languages. As of Sept 2026, 13,800 researchers registered with 1,000 papers uploaded every 40-50 days. The piece also flags challenges: reach, misaligned academic incentives, and accuracy risks of AI-generated summaries.
