RAG explainer: real-time retrieval fixes stale data and hallucinations without fine-tuning
goyalshaliniuk · x · 2026-10-22
An educational thread on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). The author argues traditional LLMs suffer from outdated data, hallucinations, and generic responses — they can only answer from past training data, leading to inaccuracies.
RAG's fix: pull relevant, real-time data from external sources (documents, FAQs, APIs) before generating an answer, improving accuracy, reducing misinformation, and eliminating the need for expensive fine-tuning. The pipeline collects data from multiple sources, converts text into embeddings, and retrieves context for generation.
