316 PRs merged in 7 days by AI workers on 13 Rust repos — the model was never the bottleneck

The author ran a pipeline of coding agents (open-source ApolloOffice, a single Rust binary supporting Claude Code, Codex, API keys or Ollama) across 13 Rust repos for a week: take an issue, write a failing test, fix it, run CI, open a PR — about 316 merged. Key lessons: verify results in code, not with the model (a PR ships only if the new test is red without the fix and green with it); small models handle more steps than expected, with strong models needed only for the real fix; and most bad fixes came from a broken build image, not the model.
