PSMcpServer turns PowerShell scripts into MCP tools just by dropping them in a folder
dfinke · x · 2026-10-22
16-time Microsoft MVP Doug Finke built PSMcpServer, a native PowerShell streamable-HTTP MCP server: drop scripts into a folder and it parses param blocks, builds tool schemas, and serves them to agents — no restarts, no glue code. With -Watch, the tool list updates live as files change. Existing modules become tools, tools can return sortable tables and live forms rendered in chat, and agents can write new scripts into the folder to extend their own toolbox mid-session. Finke also shows how AI (including computer use) wrote the whole thing, even digging a fix out of logs.
