Claude Desktop 2.0 turns the Code tab into friendly Claude Code — no VS Code needed
PawelHuryn · x · 2026-10-22
The author is impressed by Claude Desktop 2.0: the Code tab is now Claude Code with a friendly interface, meaning non-engineers no longer need VS Code. New features include: opening, editing, or leaving comments on files; versioning to see Claude's changes or pick a Git branch; a built-in browser so Claude runs your app and checks its own changes; visual feedback by drawing on prototypes; and split view. He follows up with a full setup guide (download at claude.com/download, Claude Code included, nothing else to install).
