Why agents running a business still need babysitting: session expiry and duplicate actions
Consistent-Point-174 · reddit · 2026-10-22
The author surveyed agent communities on what still forces humans to babysit agents doing revenue-generating work:
- Losing access mid-task can force a full restart; persistent browser profiles and dedicated inboxes help, but session expiry, verification codes and reauthorization persist.
- After a connection drops, the agent can't tell if an action succeeded—retrying may mean double payments, duplicate messages or duplicate accounts.
- Saving progress per step doesn't fully fix it: the provider may complete an action before the agent records it.
The team is building payment solutions for agents and seeking the most repetitive blockers beyond payments, with concrete examples and durable workarounds.
