OpenAI's 1,946 GPT-Rosalind agents interpret whole-brain CRISPR atlas in 32 minutes

OpenAI, PerturbAI and Scripps Research split a whole-brain mouse CRISPR atlas across 1,946 GPT-Rosalind agents — one gene per agent — producing in 32 minutes what would take humans months. Without access to the source paper (published after the model's Dec 2025 cutoff), agents matched or refined 48 of 55 supportable findings, retrieved 100s× more references than single-agent mode, and blinded experts preferred the distributed interpretations. They surfaced a testable drug-discovery lead: restoring cholesterol transport may protect neurons in Perry syndrome (DCTN1).
