Arda's team has released Artios, a fully open-source system for designing functional de novo enzymes. Enzymes are a new frontier for de novo protein design because the challenge is coordinating precise chemistry rather than binding a target; the team says Artios combines backbone and sequence models to achieve state-of-the-art enzyme design performance. They argue these fundamental capabilities should be built in the open to speed up science.
