AFM scans compare Apple's AR coatings: iPhone Duo vs iPad nano-texture glass
jwt0625 · x · 2026-10-22
The author used atomic force microscopy (AFM) to scan AR coatings on Apple products and a third-party AR screen protector: regular matte glass shows fine granular texture, iPhone Duo's honeycomb nano-etch has the largest height swing (±400nm), while iPad nano-texture glass is shallower and more uniform (±160nm). Part of an in-depth iPhone Duo review.
